Witchbrook on Nintendo Switch

Quick Answer

Witchbrook is coming to the original Nintendo Switch on January 28, 2027. It is not announced only for Switch 2: Nintendo has a separate product for each system.

Witchbrook is coming to the original Nintendo Switch on January 28, 2027. It is not announced only for Switch 2: Nintendo has a separate product for each system. The original Switch product currently identifies its edition as Digital.

The most useful buying distinction is how you intend to play: alone in handheld, tabletop or TV mode, or with an online group. The product lists all three play modes, while reserving its multiplayer count for online play.

The 1.2 GB field is an estimate for this Nintendo product. It should not be confused with the PC requirement for 2 GB available space or used as a final installation measurement.

Nintendo also includes its qualification that software compatibility and play experience may differ on Switch Lite and additional accessories may be required. This is a store qualification, not a measured report that Witchbrook runs at a particular resolution or frame rate on each Switch model.

What you can do alone or online

The announced game combines magical college studies with life in Mossport. You learn through classes, research and practical work for residents, earn money through your witch business and develop friendships or romance with covenmates. Your cottage and garden are personal spaces to furnish and cultivate between studies.

In the online version, up to four total players can work together on activities such as business, magic and exploration. The home design gives each player a cottage and garden area rather than requiring everyone to agree on one interior.

Additional multiplayer cottages arranged around Shadbrook Cottage

The additional online cottages have different layouts around the shared land. The map is not a split-screen display or a Switch performance comparison.

A single-system count of one is particularly relevant if you want to play with somebody beside you on the same display. The advertised four-player mode does not turn that one system into a local multiplayer session.

Online requirements and cloud saves

Nintendo specifies a Nintendo Account, Nintendo Switch Online membership and internet access for online play. Membership is sold separately, and online features are not available in all countries.

Save Data Cloud is another listed Nintendo Switch Online feature. It should be understood as that product's cloud-save support, without assuming transfer to the separate Switch 2 product or to PC and other consoles.

For a mixed-system group, online player counts also leave the exact connection pairing unresolved. Two editions releasing on the same day do not establish that they can connect, and no Switch-to-Switch-2 or cross-brand pairing should be assumed from these fields alone.

Language and version checks

Nintendo lists Japanese, British English, French, German, Spanish, Korean, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Brazilian Portuguese and Traditional Chinese. Those languages are relevant to books, knowledge entries, business requests and character dialogue. The list does not promise full voice acting.

Use the original Switch listing to inspect the actual regional offer. The dedicated Switch 2 listing is a distinct product. The original product's Switch 2 compatibility status is currently Untested, separate from the dedicated Switch 2 release.

No measured frame-rate, loading-time or battery comparison is established. There is also no announced free upgrade or combined entitlement. If you already own an original Switch, its confirmed release is the relevant starting point; a hardware purchase should not be justified by an invented Witchbrook performance advantage.

The current Nintendo offer is Digital. Physical Standard and Collector's Editions will follow the initial digital release, with their specific platforms and contents still to be announced.
